Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Counseling

The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Counselor Education and Counseling prepares graduates to serve as faculty members in counselor education programs, doctoral level counselors, counselor supervisors in various settings, leaders in higher education and counseling organizations, and scholars.

A minimumn of three years of full-time study are required for this program. Doctoral students contribute in all aspects of the Master of Counseling program, including teaching, supervising, mentoring, and assessing master's students.

Applications for the Ph.D. program are due January 15. Applicants are required to take either the GRE or the MAT prior to applying.* There are two applications, one for the Department of Counseling and one for the Graduate School.
