Clinical Laboratory Scientists are Health Care detectives!

Clinical laboratory professionals perform, develop, evaluate, correlate and assure accuracy and validity of laboratory information. They direct and supervise clinical laboratory resources and collaborate in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The basic disciplines in Clinical Lab Science include: Hematology (study of blood cells), Microbiology (study of bacteria, viruses, fungi), Immunohematology (transfusion medicine), Clinical Chemistry, Serology (study of antibodies and antigens) and Management.

Currently, there is a shortage of qualified CLS/MT individuals. A variety of positions may be found in hospital and independent laboratories, administration, research, marketing and sales as well as in education.

Additional information about the curriculum, accreditation, student information, etc. can be accessed through the CLS website.
